December 2006

January
  • January 9th - Chapter meeting. 6:30pm at Avalon Friesians.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

We hope everyone is enjoying the season and the relatively quiet weather we've been having. As the year wraps up we are already meeting and discussing details for the 2007 season. The show dates, judges and locations are pretty well lined up and we're now looking at filling volunteer holes for show related activities such as judge transportation for all shows, judges stand set up and take down for all shows, fundraising for Dressage in the Sierra, and hospitality tent "manager" for Dressage in the Sierra. Please consider taking part. We really do need your help.

Holiday Party Wrap up

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Beth Curle for hosting the party this year. Beth put an incredible amount of time and effort into making the party a success and we are grateful. What a fantastic job! Additionally, thank you Cindy and Mary Anne for putting together the Silent Auction. We had lots of wonderful items donated to the auction from lessons to toys, UNR apparel to Skagen watches. This is a great fund raiser for the club and a good time for all who engage in the bidding wars! Thank you to everyone who donated. Another enormous thank you to the Lovigs for bringing their beautiful team to the party for hay rides. It really doesn't get much better than that.

Congratulations to everyone on a truly successful show season. If you weren't able to attend the party but did qualify for an award, please contact Beth at curle@mindspring.com to pick up your award. It's quite remarkable how well our chapter is doing. Steve and I are working on posting a copy of the awards results on the web site for all to see as well as the pictures taken by Lou Christensen.

By the way, if you are wondering what the requirements are to qualify for the SNC Chapter awards we have them posted on the web site under the Chapter Info section. We've tried to outline the requirements so that they are clear for each level. Take a look!

Amateur Clinic

The 2007 CDS Amateur Clinic for the North Region will be held on April 26th-29th at Yarra Yarra Ranch in Pleasanton, Ca. The clinician is Mette Rosencrantz. The first evening of the clinic will include a required introductory lecture and the following 3 days will be riding sessions. Auditors are invited and encouraged to attend all sessions and participate in the question and answer periods.

All interested members must submit a written application to the SNC Board of Directors no later than January 5th, 2007. Please include in your application your name, horse's name, the level at which you are currently riding, whether or not you have attended the CDS Amateur clinic before and when, and a brief description about how you have participated in club activities.

CDS Annual Clinic and Chapter Basket

This year's CDS Annual Meeting will be January 19th-21st at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. The Convention will feature National German Dressage Champion, Ingrid Klimke, who will be working with demonstration horses to show classical training and cross training methods which produce fitness.

SNC will be working on the chapter basket to take to the meeting. Every year the various chapters of CDS take baskets of goodies to be presented and auctioned. Proceeds from the baskets go to the Travel Grant Fund.

Donations are needed for the basket… any horsey items, gift items (candles, soaps, jewelry, etc), wine, glassware, you name it! In addition, we are currently looking for someone to collect the donations and put the chapter basket together for this year. All you need is some creativity!

This is a fun and simple way to get involved with the club. PLEASE consider helping out! Contact any board member for more information.
